              Who goes to fast food restaurant in Khon Kaen?

Nowadays, fast food restaurant are very popular all around the world especially in western countries. It is also well-liked in Asian countries like Thailand. They are located in many parts of Thailand but I would like to focus in Khon Kaen province. In Khon Kaen, as there are two main types of people that  like to go to fast food restaurants for purposes such as for fun, family time, new experience, etc., I would like to divide them in to 2 big groups that relate to their purpose as follows:

1. Families with young children

2. Teenagers

Firstly, at fast food restaurants like KFC you might see a playhouse corner for the kids.  Why do they have a playhouse at a fast food restaurant? To attract families and young children. They also frequently have promotion focused on kids and usually involve the kids’ corner at their restaurant.  Not only that, you frequently see the poster or a bunch of pictures in Khon Kaen fast food restaurants about a birthday party, as many kids and family and restaurant’s staff join each other for the large celebrations. Furthermore, they also have Chicky school tour to do the activities with the kids at school.^[1]

Secondly, today the amount of Khon Kaen teenagers who go to fast food restaurant is quite high. As they think that to go to fast food restaurant is something very styling or fashionable. They do not even go there because of the taste, and certainly not for the nutrition, but they just go there to show other people that “I’m cool to have a chance to eat here.”

               

As the above information describes, we can see that the customer in western countries and Thailand has a different purpose to go fast food restaurant. For those in western cultures, they go there because it is cheaper than to go to the real restaurant but for Khon Kaen people they go for other purposes even though they know that it is quite expensive for the average Thai income and has little nutrition for their health.
